Originally bid using the tradition construction bid process, the Trigg County Middle School roof replacement project came back over budget. Funds were simply not available to complete the project due to the high cost associated with the traditional construction bid process and the bids were rejected. Woodall Roofing & Exteriors approached the School board and offered a solution that would allow the roof to be completed on time and on budget using industry leading contractors by utilizing The Interlocal Purchasing Cooperative (TIPS). We proposed a Duro-last prefabricated roof and were able to satisfy all the warranty and specification requirements as set forth in the original bid while saving the school district hundreds of thousands of dollars. Due to the inherently quick nature of installing prefabricated deck sheets the project was easily completed before the start of school although the working timeline had been limited by bidding delays caused by the initial attempts to use the traditional bid process. After the project we conducted an arial thermal imaging survey of the campus to contrast the temperature difference between the cool Duro-last roof and the new TPO roof on the adjacent elementary school. During the analysis of the thermal imaging we discovered two significant leaks on the high school gymnasium and shared that information with the Facilities Maintenance Director.
